The Strauss & Co Valuation Day and Lecture was a special opportunity for art collectors, art connoisseurs and art appreciators.
Strauss & Co offered insight on the value of art pieces provided by guests while others were able to sharpen their knowledge on the history of art development in South Africa.
In the authentic setting of the L’Huguenot Vinoteque, specialist Ian Hunter and Matthew Partridge took guests on a journey that charted the development of South African art from ‘moderns’, such as Pierneef, Irma Stern and Hugo Naudé, to the ‘contemporaries’, such as Jane Alexander and William Kentridge.
Throughout the day, guests could bring their own artwork for validation at a R20 per item fee. The proceeds went towards the Val de Vie Foundation.
Strauss & Co is synonymous with top quality art, decorative arts and jewellery and it was a true privilege to host this prestige company on the estate.
