Owen is a retired Microsoft executive with nearly 30 years of international experience in the high-technology sector across a wide range of roles. He and his wife, Miranda, a yoga teacher, made Val de Vie Estate their home in July 2025.

Born in Port Elizabeth, Owen completed most of his schooling at St Stithians College in Johannesburg before attending university in Pietermaritzburg, where he met Miranda. He began his career with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, after which the couple moved abroad. Thirty-seven years and seven countries later, they returned to South Africa to make it their permanent home. Both have parents living in the Cape.

Owen retired from Microsoft in 2018. In his final role, he served as Head of Operations for the Americas and led the global outsourced vendor program supporting Microsoft Worldwide Operations. He is experienced in resolving complex operational issues, with a strong focus on quality and process. His ability to lead across generations, cultures, and diverse workforces contributed to his success in numerous senior leadership roles.

Since retirement, Owen and Miranda spent almost four years sailing the Caribbean extensively in their Leopard 48 catamaran before buying a property in Bonaire, where they lived for three years before moving back to America. In 2023, they commissioned a build on an overland truck in Cape Town. Since then, they have toured Southern Africa quite extensively in the truck, enjoying escaping to remote areas and enjoying nature.

Owen and Miranda have one son who lives in America and is a pilot with NetJets.

Rayno and his wife, Lynn, moved to Val de Vie Estate in December 2023 after 26 years in Pretoria, with their two children, Oliver and Milan. As a family, they enjoy the estate’s facilities and lifestyle and look forward to seeing these continue to evolve to reflect the estate’s full potential. They value the freedom, security, and natural beauty. As active community members, they are committed to ensuring it remains one of South Africa’s most prestigious places to live.

A financial advisor and entrepreneur with over 27 years’ experience, Rayno works with high-net-worth individuals and business owners, specialising in multi-generational wealth planning and values-based financial strategies. He helps families build legacies rooted in purpose, identity, and long-term stewardship, guided by his belief that true wealth extends beyond assets to the values we live and pass on. He is also actively involved in several business ventures and serves clients through a family-office-style approach.

As a trustee, Rayno is committed to upholding his fiduciary duties with integrity, protecting homeowner interests, and safeguarding the value of their investments. He champions sound governance, transparent decision-making, open communication, fairness, and responsible stewardship. Rayno brings a fresh, younger generational perspective as a family man raising his children on the estate. He is passionate about ensuring that the voices of all residents, from young families to long-standing homeowners, are heard and represented in decisions that shape the estate’s future, while preserving the unique lifestyle and strong sense of community that define Val de Vie Estate.

Gerald and his wife, Susan, have been married for over 40 years and share a close-knit family of two children and three grandchildren. Their son lives in Johannesburg and their daughter in Dubai, and both families relish visiting Val de Vie Estate whenever they can. Since moving to the estate in July 2020, Gerald and Susan have embraced its active, outdoor lifestyle. Gerald keeps fit by running, cycling, swimming, and the occasional round of golf daily, making the most of the facilities and the community they are proud to call home.

Born and educated in Gqeberha, Gerald qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Financial Planner and spent most of his career in Johannesburg. He retired from PwC in June 2021 as a Partner and Tax Director, having served on the firm’s Tax Management Committee and as an employer-elected trustee of the firm’s Provident Fund. His expertise spans all aspects of tax and reward, with a particular focus on employment-related tax issues and employee benefit consulting. Since retiring, he has continued to share his knowledge through select consulting engagements.

With the estate entering a more mature phase of its lifecycle, Gerald’s focus as a trustee will be safeguarding its financial stability and long-term sustainability. Drawing on decades of senior-level financial governance experience, he aims to ensure that resources are managed prudently, reserves are protected, and budgeting supports operational excellence and the continued enhancement of estate life for all members.

Jeanelize is an experienced commercial attorney with more than 13 years of professional involvement with Val de Vie Estate. Jeanelize completed her BA (Law) LLB with the University of Stellenbosch in 2000 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2003 after completing her articles of clerkship with Bowman Gilfillan Inc.  She also holds a Higher Diploma in Income Tax from the University of Cape Town.

She is an admitted Solicitor in England and Wales and worked for HM Customs and Excise as a lawyer in their Asset Forfeiture Taskforce in 2003 and 2004.  Upon her return to South Africa in 2005 she joined Hofmeyr Herbstein Gihwala as an associate attorney in the firm’s commercial department.

Jeanelize is a founding shareholder and director of Themis Commercial Legal Advisors (Pty) Ltd and Hayes Inc and has been practising as such since 2006.  She specialises in legal matters of a commercial nature. She is also married and a mom.

Morne has been a director of the development company since 2010 and served as chairman of the HOA from 2011 until 2021.

He obtained a CA (SA) qualification in 2002 and an MBA in 2010, and completed his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers. His field of expertise lies in business restructuring, business development and operations management.

He moved to Val de Vie with his family in 2011 and has enjoyed being part of the Estate’s thrilling journey of growth since then. The family also currently resides in the Netherlands. During the early days of the Polo Club, he enjoyed playing for the Val de Vie Team, and was also a regular contestant on the squash courts in the Sports and Leisure Centre.
