ADENE’S FARM FLOWERS ON VAL DE VIE ESTATE
Owning a dog is a joy, a privilege and a responsibility. It requires commitment, as dogs need daily attention, playtime and regular exercise. Walking your dog around the Estate is a wonderful way for both of you to enjoy the outdoors and stay active. However, responsible dog ownership goes beyond just exercise; it involves ensuring the safety of your dog, other animals and the people around you.
It’s important to remember that not everyone will share your love for dogs. To ensure harmony within the community, always keep your dog on your property and on a leash during walks or runs.
With summer comes polo season, bringing more horses onto the Estate. When venturing outside your property, dogs must always remain leashed, especially near the polo fields. Dogs are prohibited on the polo fields, equestrian centres, berms, stables and paddocks. An unleashed dog can spook a horse, potentially causing harm to the rider, handler or horse.
While you may feel confident in your dog’s behaviour, with thoughts like “My dog is friendly” or “They love people and other animals,” leashing your dog benefits everyone—your dog, the neighbourhood and the broader Estate community.
- A leash prevents your dog from trespassing on neighbours’ property or jumping on passersby during walks, fostering a more considerate environment.
- Often called “Your Pet’s Lifeline,” a leash protects your dog from dangers like traffic or the temptation to chase birds or cats. It also gives you better control if your dog feels threatened or defensive.
- Not everyone is a dog lover, and some people may be allergic, fearful or uncomfortable around dogs. Leashing your dog shows respect for those who prefer to keep their distance.
- A free-roaming dog can disrupt the habitat of ground-nesting birds, stress small wildlife or leave behind waste unnoticed – failing to pick up after your dog can result in fines.
- Keeping your dog leashed allows you to monitor what it eats or drinks. Off-leash, it could ingest harmful plants or substances, leading to an emergency vet visit. Moreover, if it runs off, it risks getting lost or injured.
Leashing your dog ensures a safer, cleaner and more enjoyable environment for everyone on the Estate. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and keeping our community harmonious.
