FAUNA AND FLORA
There are over 500 rose bushes adorning the streets of the Estate;
Duiker, porcupine, Cape grey mongoose, scrub hare, Cape ground squirrels and Cape clawless otter roam free on the Estate;
Val de Vie Estate, in conjunction with Cape Nature, established a 3-hectare wildlife reserve area that is home to a herd of springbok, zebra and Cape grysbok;
More than 300 bird species inhabit the Estate, including spotted eagle owl and a pair of fish eagle;
There are twenty lakes and large waterways (some previously used as quarries) now rich with fish, geese, freshwater crabs and small amphibians;
There are two families of Cape clawless otter that lives on Val de Vie Estate, they are both nocturnal and diurnal and mostly feed off the crabs and rodents in and around the lakes;
There are over 15 different dragonflies and damselflies that reside around the waterways;
The Estate boasts 300 hectares of parks, fynbos and wildlife reserves, farms and lakes;
7km of the pristine Berg River flows alongside the Estate and supplies the Estate with much of its irrigation and natural beauty, offering beautiful locations to enjoy as picnic spots, fishing spots or to spend an afternoon basking in the tranquility of the surroundings;
With 64 stables at the Val de Vie stable yard, 42 stables at the Pearl Valley Equestrian Centre and spacious grass paddocks for all livery clients., there are plenty of benefits available to give our horses the highest quality of life and care;
Polo facilities on Val de Vie Estate include two Hurlingham standard Polo Fields, one multipurpose sports field and a “stick and ball” field next to the sand-fibre arena;
Competitive and schooling riders can enjoy riding in the fantastic sand – fibre show jumping and dressage arena which is equipped with a full set of jumping furniture at Val de Vie Equestrian Club At The Pearl Valley Equestrian Centre there is a fenced dressage arena, lunge ring and two large jumping and flatwork grass arenas suitable for schooling or leisure riding;
All equestrian disciplines are welcome and accommodated for at Val de Vie Estate with large areas and adequate surfaces;

There are 917 hectares within the Estate’s perimeter fence which patrolled 24/7 by Thorburn Security;
Val de Vie Estate has six main access points. These points provide entrance via 40 vehicle access and exit lanes and turnstiles for residents and contract workers. Strict access control measures are in place at these points and each point is monitored with an array of cameras;
Val de Vie Estate was one of the first estates in South Africa to implement biometric-access control measures, allowing for tracking of entrance and exit, and movement of persons through the different areas of the Estate;
Residents are safeguarded from unauthorised visitors via automated booms that control access to residential villages;
License plate recognition technology is linked to the central Western Cape database and of great value in monitoring suspicious vehicle activity;
Louis de Jager, who retired as Full Colonel as Provincial Head Western Province Crime Intelligence, has been appointed as Val de Vie Estate’s full time Risk Manager. Louis has spent 29 years working as a detective for the South African Police Service and 23 years in the private sector.
Life at Val de Vie Evergreen is the start of a new and exciting chapter for individuals over the age of 60;
Kinder Ark: Their state-of-the-art premises lies in the heart of the Estate and can accommodate 140 children. Through play-based, child-centred education children are taught life’s most valuable principles and encouraged to be themselves;

There are three main fitness hubs on the Estate namely The Yard Wellness Centre, The Lifestyle Centre and Pearl Valley Lifestyle Centre;
The Lifestyle Centre boasts two squash courts, two floodlit tennis courts, a 25m heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room as well as a yoga and Pilates studio;
The Yard Wellness centre is surrounded by a running track and overlooks the 50m Olympic size swimming pool. The premier 1000m² fitness facility opens its doors onto green grass perfect for outdoor exercises and classes. There are also cricket nets, multipurpose courts, a Padel tennis court and a lawn bowls facility;
Pearl Valley wellness facilities include a fully equipped gym, recreational swimming pool, outdoor gym, two tennis courts and cricket nets;
There are a number of classes available on the Estate ranging from Indoor Cycling classes, Pilates, FIT45 classes, Piloxing to mixed Martial Arts.
The concept of Reuben’s & Co Café is based on seasonal, health-conscious dishes prepared with fresh ingredients grown organically on Val de Vie Estate and surrounding farms in the Franschhoek Valley;

The Deli at Val de Vie Estate is situated next to Fleet Coffee shop. The Deli is stocked with a wide selection of sustainably farmed foods. From free-range meat, braai wood, eggs, dairy products, delicious condiments, live oil, jams and artisanal breads.
Both wine tasting and wine sales are available at L’Huguenot Venue & Vinoteque where residents and guests can experience the splendid views of the surrounding historic vineyards;
In the 100-ton wine cellar the selective Val de Vie and Polo Club wines are produced, available for guests to taste and purchase and at discounted rates for Val de Vie Estate residents; Residents enjoy free delivery within one working day on orders of a case of six or more; Val de Vie Estate is home to a Deli filled with a delicious array of cured meat, artisanal bread, pastry, cheeses, condiments and more.
Val de Vie Estate is home to an iconic Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course – one of only six in South Africa. The unique touch of golf legend Jack Nicklaus is evident throughout the championship course;
The 4th hole is challenging, with limited margin for error as you need to cross the creek three times en-route to a tricky green. This par 5 is regularly listed as one of the best in South Africa, epitomising the ideals of ‘risk and reward’;
The 13th hole is a daunting par 3 that will test both your ball strike and your nerve. As the water cuts from the right and a greenside bunker awaits, one is captivated by the tee shot.

Founded in 2015, the Val de Vie Foundation is a faith-based initiative which belongs to all on the Estate and its aim is to provide a better life for all in the Valley;
The Foundation is a non-profit organisation that supports people in under resourced communities in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley and collaborated with multiple stakeholders in a response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic;
The Vodacom Shop Celebrity Golf Day, an annual highlight on the Western Cape golfing calendar, takes place on the Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The auction dinner raises funds in aid of the Val de Vie Foundation and continues to grow every year. The funds are allocated to create a better life for all in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley.
