As a -2 goal player my experience at Val De Vie was friendly and professional. I was impressed with John's ability to match my riding skills with the appropriate ponies, of which there was no shortage. By day two I played in a low goal match, with a group of great people.
Oh yes the beers after the game are also worth a mention. Thanks for a great time at a great venue. I will be back! Ps After a few polo lessons Jo even managed to convert my show jumping mad daughter of 10 years old to still pick up her stick in the UK and play a bit of stick and ball.
Highly Recommended.

A world class facility, which I will hopefully be making a permanent fixture in my polo calendar. It's very unique in that it offers all one could ask for in a polo destination.

My first impression of Val de Vie, Sitting on my horse waiting for my match to start and looking up into the mountains surrounding me, it must be one of the most spectacular views , and to think that I was playing Polo , takes a lot of beating. The views aside, I have played Polo in most of the Polo playing countries and these fields are in with the very best. The stables and pavilion, well they speak for themselves, in terms of competing with any other polo facilities it must be the best. I have played there on two occasions and I feel privileged to have done so.

I loved my lesson at Val de vie because the field was lovely, the people and ponies at Val de Vie were lovely and friendly.
Val de Vie is a lovely place.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the chukkas and the overall Val de Vie experience, totally addicted now! The people, horses and facilities are really great. I'm afraid I've been spoilt by riding your ponies; everywhere else I go I have to work harder at getting them to the ball than concentrating on my swing! A colleague of mine here and I are debating using our air miles to come down for a long weekend or something to play, perhaps before the tournament.
Many thanks again - I look forward to returning soon.

Playing at Val de Vie is always like coming home for me. Great people, great facilities. On top of having the best field I've played on 4 continents, John's 'lifestyle' approach to polo really opens the game up to people of all levels, which means a lot more fun for guys like me. He's also a great coach and I double my value by plumbing him for tips, on everything from my game to my horses, over beers afterwards. A big thanks to John and Jo for all their help in stabling/logistics/the lot, last summer and for all the fun and games.

To John and Jo, what you have done is remarkable, not only with the awesome facilities but also creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.

It was a great pleasure being part of such nice and professional and stunning accommodation, great grounds, and very dedicated and skilled polo training given by one of the world’s most experienced polo players in the world John Lister.
Not forgetting the great surroundings around Paarl. A true great experience and dream for polo lovers.

I would like to mention that the stables are managed in the most professional way by John and Jo, their passion for the horses is part of their everyday living.
I’ve learned so much from them in the past month by stabling at Val de Vie. John is showing Spirit that he is actually a horse and Tahila has told me she is living in a five star hotel now and thinks she is on semi – retirement!

Val de Vie, Val de plaisir et de bon temps…In 2008 my spouse and I visited South Africa after 3 consecutives year traveling to South America, particularly Argentina. I tried a bit of polo in Argentina and found this sport fascinating.. Riding experience is not a prerequisite to initiate you to a polo experience, it’s a plus. My goal was, while in SA, to spend sometime taking polo lessons and initiate myself more seriously to this magnificent game. After extensively searching the Internet I decided to go to Val de Vie. The web site is inviting, well structured, and my e-mail communications with Joanna and John very comforting. Once there my ‘educated feeling’ became a solid conviction: I made the right choice! The location is stunning, John and his horses are great teachers, club member’s fantastic people and I was delighted to witness great horsemanship and riding knowledge. I like to walk the talk and we are coming back this year for a much longer stay and a longer learn and play experience. We warmly recommend Val de Vie and its great team as ‘the’ place for the greatest polo experience.
