The SA Weddings Bride of the Year 2009

If you’ve never been to Val de Vie Polo and Wine Estate in Franschhoek, you really should go. I see a lot of venues week in and week out and believe me here, I expressed myself in some fairly eloquent language (accompanied by a low, long whistle) when I saw this place. It’s bloody outstanding. It’s one of those ‘how the other half live’ kind of venues. Be-bloody-eutiful. They have a lawn I’d give my wife and kids away for – and they have the cheek to play polo on the thing! Eish! Anyway, the reason I was there was to shoot the prestigious SA Weddings Bride of the Year 2009 – in association with Live Out Loud magazine. Now listen, take my exceptional advice here – if you’re getting married and you’ve never been to www.saweddings.co.za, you need to get yourself over there. These guys run (in my humble opinion), the finest, most honed, ship-shape wedding site in South Africa. If you need anything ‘wedding,’ it’s there. So now you know. Okay, time for a quick commercial break… Visit link for photos and to read more...

South Africa will fight it out against the Italians in a fast-paced and exhilarating Polo match over 6 chukkas. This equestrian sport – widely regarded as the Sport of Kings and the oldest mounted sport in the world – has a dedicated and loyal local following but as a result of BMW’s passion and support over the past 21 years, and polished attention to detail by event promoter, SAIL, the occasion is fast forming the basis of annual international Polo games to be held in the Western Cape. Polo is one of the toughest and most demanding of all sports. The skills required by a top polo player are a combination of the hand-eye co-ordination of a cricketer, the agility of a gymnast, the fitness of a footballer and strength of a rugby player – not to mention outstanding horsemanship. Today, polo is played in more than 60 countries and enjoyed by more than 50 million people globally each year. More importantly, as anyone who has watched a polo match will testify to, the sound of thundering hooves and the thrill of robust competition delivers spectators the very emotion that BMW embodies in each of its products – pure unadulterated Joy.” Gates open at 2pm and entrance to this stylish event is R110 (excluding food and drink). Val de Vie Wine at All Access B-day Party!

Val de Vie is delighted that its wines were served at an exclusive VIP Cocktail Party hosted by One&Only Cape Town and Seeff Properties on Monday the 5th July. The event revealed the never seen before Penthouse One on the rooftop of One&Only Cape Town. Invited personally by Sol Kerzner, guests were able to enjoy the very ‘Best of South Africa’. The Best South African Real Estate - Penthouse One at One&Only, the Best contemporary African Art – by the resident Goodman Gallery, and the Best South African Diamonds by Olga Jewellery Design Studio. While guests were taking in the exquisite 360-degree views, they were lavished with exquisite canapés by maze and Nobu, spectacular Belvedere Vodka cocktails and award-winning Val de Vie wines, while being entertained by an exclusive Jazz performance by talented performer, Lindiwe Suttle. Penthouse One, still an unfinished shell and left as a blank canvas ready for its potential purchaser to create whatever beautiful space they desire, was an unusual venue to hold a high profile party, with the glitz and glamour of the evening forming an interesting contrast with the raw and industrial looking interior of the penthouse. This exclusive ‘by invitation only’ party was attended by leading industry figures, potential investors, foreign visitors and a few of the more recognizable South African celebrities such as Felicia Mabuze-Suttle, Michelle McLean, Ryk Neethling, Mark Bailey and Sol Kerzner.
